Starting Out as a Photographer

Prologue

I've always been into cars. Since I was a young kid, dad had introduced my into the world of video games in the 90s, the first ever being Need For Speed Hot Pursuit III. Fast forward about 19 years, I'm stuck in this awesome community of like minded people. Building cars, racing cars and breaking cars. So many memories but only in our minds. Dad had just bought a camera a couple of years back, used but now sitting in it's bag hiding in a shelf. I wanted to pursue something more than tinkering with cars and gaming, and so came forth Envisioned Performance.

Origins

Envisioned Performance was originally called Envisioned which appeared briefly in the scene around 2014 and quickly disappeared due to feeling out of depth and totally average (I look back and I wish that I didn't stop, but instead I kept going out and practising because in between 2014-2019 some awesome car events were held and I missed out on documenting it!) Anyways, here is a photo I took at a gathering during the last quarter of 2014.

No Education

Having relaunched as Envisioned Performance was exciting, however I was still stuck with the same skills as I had left in 2014. It has been 5 years and though I had no skills, I embraced YouTube and Instagram for help on basic photography and editing techniques for automotive photography and also for inspiration. A plethora of things can be taught via the Internet these days. However, your style cannot be taught. One thing I constantly took away from all the videos and articles I had watched and read was that you can only get so much out of reading and watching, but for the most part, you just have to go out and do it!

I am excited to see where this is going and I look forward to learning so much more. If you're worried about people criticising your work, take it with an open-mind but do not dwell on it. Use the many resources available to learn techniques and skills, but most importantly go out and practise; find your style and be consistent

I love this quote and I'll share it here in the hopes someone will pick it up and run with it:
"<span>If you</span><span> </span><span>quit now...</span> <br /><span>you'll end up right back where you first began </span><br /><span>And when you first began, you were desperate to be desperate to be where you are </span><br /><span>RIGHT NOW. </span><br /><span>KEEP GOING</span>"
